Cognosis begins with a simple but enduring question: What does it mean to know ourselves? MyCognosis explores that question through conversation, education, personal reflection and an examination of the ways altered states of consciousness can influence perception, thought and our sense of self.

An Ancient Human Curiosity

The exploration of consciousness through psychoactive mushrooms is not solely a modern phenomenon. Indigenous cultures in Mesoamerica used psilocybin-containing mushrooms in religious, ceremonial, divinatory and healing traditions long before modern scientific investigation of psychedelics began.

Among the Nahua and Aztec peoples, these mushrooms became known as teonanacatl, commonly translated as “flesh of the gods.” Historical accounts and archaeological evidence point to a long tradition in which altered states of consciousness were approached within cultural, spiritual and communal settings.

MyCognosis approaches this history with respect while looking toward contemporary discussion, education and research into consciousness, cognition and the human experience.

Knowledge Through Conversation

MyCognosis is a community for thoughtful discussion about self-awareness, cognition, psychedelic experiences and holistic approaches to personal understanding. Discussion forums bring together community members and experienced holistic healers who share perspectives centered on counseling, education, reflection and the continuing exploration of the mind.
